Bianca Judd Allen

Bianca Judd Allen, aka BJ Allen, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, peacefully at home with her family and beloved cat Duchess surrounding her with love. Born on November 30, 1946, in Tennessee, she is predeceased by loving parents, Alma Rhea (Billie) and Bethel Thomas (BT) Judd, brothers Larry V. Lee and Samuel T. Judd, sisters Lagonda Mapes and Vera Joyce Haulk, aunt Ada Cahoon, uncle, Wilfred Haun and grandparents, Mary Jane and Samuel Washington Haun, Appie Jane and Jacob Alpheus Judd.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Sonya Mynatt, Tony Watson, Rosie Judd, and Katie Judd, her pampered fur-baby Ms. Duchess, and many great nieces and nephews and their children whom she loved dearly along with a host of friends that would make many socialites jealous.

She was a devoted employee of Southern Bell in Knoxville, TN, Harriman, TN, Nashville, TN, and Birmingham, AL, working her way up from the switchboards and eventually retiring as an Infrastructure Planning Manager from BellSouth in 2006 after over 39 years of service. Never one to sit still, she spent her retirement working as an Administrative Director for the Birmingham Audubon Society and served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations including Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries, Clay Historical Society, and Birmingham Audubon Society. She served as President of the Alabama Ornithological Society (say that three times fast) and President of the Positive Maturity Board of Directors.

While she couldn’t attend services as often as she would have liked in recent years due to her health issues, she was a member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church in Clay, Alabama and had an unshakable faith in God. She was always ready to lend a hand to her neighbors and anyone in need. Whether it was giving someone a ride, or helping with groceries, she embodied the tenant that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

She was always ready to tell a funny story (often at her own expense) and loved an adventure, especially if there were birds involved. Whether it was trips to hole-in-the-wall burger joints, or hopping on a boat to the Galapagos Islands, she loved to experience new things and see some new birds along the way. She loved fiercely and could be rather stubborn about doing things her own way (she got that from the Judd and the Haun sides of the family). Her ability to organize and label things were legendary, and we all know how much she loved a spreadsheet.

Memorial services will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Friday, September 18th, 2026, at 11:00am. Family visitation will take place 10:00am – 11:00am. Friends and family are encouraged to share humorous memories and to wear something purple (her favorite color) or with birds. The dress code is strictly casual, as she wanted her friends and family to come as they are and celebrate her amazing life. An additional memorial service will take place in Tennessee on a later date. Internment of ashes will be private with family only.
